Setting your shipping up before the first order

Your first order comes in. The buyer has already paid a shipping price, and you never typed one in. Where did it come from?
Checkout worked it out from two things: where the parcel leaves from, and how much it weighs. That is why there is very little to set on the Shipping screen. There is no courier list and no rate table. Your job is to give checkout a correct address and correct weights.
Step 1. Add your shop location
Go to Settings, then Shipping, and open the Shop Location tab.

The notice at the top says what this address is used for. It is the pickup address for courier collection, the return address on shipping labels, and it is required to calculate shipping rates at checkout.
Fill in Address Line 1, Postcode, City, State and Phone. Address Line 2 is optional. Country is Malaysia. Press Save and you will see Shop location saved.
Take care with the postcode. Checkout uses it as the point the parcel is sent from. A wrong postcode means a wrong shipping price on every order.
This is also one of the setup tasks on your dashboard. It shows as Set up shop location, and your shop cannot go live until it is done.

Only the shop owner can open this screen. Staff accounts will not see it.
Step 2. Look at Shipping methods, then leave it
The Shipping methods tab is where most sellers expect to pick couriers and type in rates. There is nothing to pick.

The card reads Shipped via EasyParcel, and explains that EasyParcel automatically selects the best available carrier for each order at checkout. The tab is information. You have nothing to switch on or off here.
Step 3. Put a real weight on every product
Weight is the input you control most directly. Checkout adds up the weight of everything in the cart and works out the price from that total. A wrong weight is a wrong price.
On the product form, find the Shipping section and fill in Weight (kg). It is required. Without it you will see Weight is required for shipping.

Weigh the item packed, the way it will go to the courier, not the bare product. A box and a mailer add weight.
If the product has variations, the weight field is replaced by a note: Weight is set per variant in the Sales Information section. Every variant then needs its own weight, or the form tells you Every variant needs a weight.
When a buyer changes their cart, the old price is dropped and a new one is worked out. The price follows the cart.
Step 4. Add a packaging fee, if you want one
This is the one shipping price that is yours to set, and it is optional. It is set on each product, not on the Shipping screen.
On the product form, open Advanced settings and switch on Packaging Fee. Choose a Fee Type, either Percentage (%) or Fixed Amount, then enter the Amount. The amount stays locked until you pick a type.

The buyer does not see a separate line for it. They see one shipping figure, the courier price plus your fee. The fee comes back to you with the order's settlement, and no percentage fee is charged on it.
Under Advanced settings you will also find package dimensions. They are optional.
What your buyer sees
At checkout the buyer enters their postcode. Berkedai works out the price from your shop location, their postcode and the weight of the cart, then selects a rate for them. It appears as Standard Shipping, one figure, with nothing for them to decide.
Selling to buyers outside Malaysia is covered separately.
