Publishing your store, and what verification unlocks

Publishing your store, and what verification unlocks

A new store is not public straight away. It stays hidden until you publish it, and publishing waits on two short setup steps.

Step 1. Finish the two setup steps

Your Dashboard shows a Getting started list.

  • Add your first product. One is enough.
  • Set up shop location. The address your parcels are sent from.
The Getting started list with Add your first product done and Set up shop location still open

Until both are done, the Your store card says Almost there and Publish store cannot be pressed.

Step 2. Set your shop location

Press Set up shop location in the list. It opens Settings, Shipping, on the Shop Location tab. Fill in the address. Shipping costs at checkout are worked out from this address, so a store without one cannot quote a buyer.

Step 3. Publish

Back on the Dashboard, the card now says Ready to go live? Press Preview store to see it as a buyer would, then Publish store.

Confirm, and the store is open.

Step 4. Share the link

The card now reads Live and shows your address. Copy link copies it and View store opens it.

Note. Pause takes the store offline until you publish it again. Use it when you need to stop taking orders for a while. Your products stay as they are.

Step 5. Your address

A new store opens on a berkedai.com address. To change it, open Settings, then Store, then Advanced settings. Under Shop Domains you can edit the name. It can be changed once a month, and old links stop working, so choose before you share it widely.

Step 6. Your own domain

A domain you own can be pointed at the store once the storefront is verified. Verification is a check our team does. A verified store also shows a verified badge to buyers.

Before that, entering a domain under Add a custom domain and pressing Add returns a message asking you to verify the storefront first.

Once verified, enter the domain and press Add. You are shown the DNS records to add where you bought the domain. Add them, then press Check again. When the status reads Verified, the domain is live.
